BURLINGTON — A jury found Jason Eaton guilty on three counts of attempted second-degree murder in the shooting of three Palestinian students as they walked near his apartment nearly three years ago.
Jurors returned their verdict on the trial’s sixth day in Chittenden Superior criminal court after a little less than two hours of deliberations that began late Monday morning.
Attorneys for Eaton had raised an insanity defense, claiming that he was not criminally responsible for his conduct at the time of the shooting on Nov. 25, 2023. The incident left the lower body of one of the men who had been shot paralyzed.
