Medical spa’s physician assistant is sanctioned by licensing board
A physician assistant from Davenport has had her license placed on probation after being charged with negligence.
Recently, the Iowa Board of Physician Assistants charged Jessica Raasch of Davenport with performing medical work without the required supervision, and with negligence in the practice of the profession.
The board has alleged that sometime between 2021 and 2023, Raasch worked at an unspecified medical spa that was owned by a nurse practitioner. During that period, the board alleges, Raasch did not have a supervising physician. Patient records that Raasch had maintained while working at the spa were destroyed in 2024 when the spa ceased to exist, according to the board.
To settle the charges, Raasch agreed to have her license placed on probation for one year and to complete 22 hours of educational training on ethics and professionalism.
While her license is on probation, Raasch’s practice will be subject to monitoring by the board, unless she is employed by a hospital or clinic where physician supervision is part of the management structure.
