Des Moines University partners with private Massachusetts college to expand program access
Des Moines University will offer reserved seats and priority interviews for students attending a Massachusetts private college with hopes to further their healthcare education.
The private medical university announced in a news release Wednesday it has partnered with Merrimack College in Massachusetts to give certain undergraduate and graduate students in biology and applied chemistry programs more access to the Des Moines University admissions process and programs.
“This partnership brings together two institutions grounded in purpose and driven by opportunity,” said Kimberly Brown, Des Moines University vice president for academic and student affairs, in the release. “By working together, we’re expanding pathways for students and creating academic experiences that are responsive and designed to meet the needs of today’s learners.”
Two seats in Des Moines University’s doctor of podiatric medicine and doctor of occupational therapy programs each will be reserved annually for Merrimack students who meet academic and admissions requirements, the release stated.
Space permitting, Merrimack students will also have guaranteed interviews to Des Moines University doctorate programs of osteopathic medicine, physical therapy and philosophy in biomedical sciences, as well as in the master of science in physician assistant studies program.
According to the release, the partnership reflects both “Merrimack’s mission to enlighten minds, engage hearts and empower lives” and Des Moines University’s “mission to improve lives by educating compassionate health professionals.”
“Merrimack College’s partnership with Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences advances our mission to create meaningful pathways for students pursuing careers in the health sciences,” said John “Sean” Condon, Merrimack College provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, in the release. “This opportunity reflects the college’s commitment to supporting high-achieving students while strengthening a collaborative partnership grounded in shared academic values and mission.”
