WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump’s rallies in Kansas and Iowa this weekend are back on after initial cancellations, States Newsroom confirmed Friday.
The Midwest rallies mark the final sprint to Election Day on Nov. 3 — now just four days away — where the GOP is itching to maintain its narrow majority in the U.S. House and control of the Senate.
Trump will return to Kansas and Iowa on Sunday for back-to-back rallies, in addition to holding nearly 20 telerallies in the final days leading up to the midterms, according to an individual speaking on background and familiar with the president’s plans. Locations for the rallies were not disclosed; the earlier rallies were scheduled for Salina, Kansas, and Dubuque, Iowa.
The individual noted that the rallies had been rearranged for scheduling purposes in order to accommodate the many additional telerallies that had been added to Trump’s schedule recently.
Kansas and Iowa are home to two crucial Senate races that the Cook Political Report with Amy Walter has declared toss-up contests.
In the Sunflower State, incumbent GOP Sen. Roger Marshall is in a competitive race against Democratic candidate Adam Hamilton.
In Iowa, Republican U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson is vying with Democratic state legislator Josh Turek to fill an open U.S. Senate seat.
