Suzanne Andresen is officially the Republican nominee for the Maine House of Representatives District 49 following a recount Thursday morning.

Andresen secured the win with 608 votes, compared with 602 for opponent Nicolas Hamlin, the Secretary of State’s office announced. Both candidates are from West Bath.

The total shifted by one vote from the election night total, which had Andresen ahead 609-601. District 49, which covers Arrowsic, Georgetown, Phippsburg, West Bath and Woolwich in Sagadahoc County, is currently represented by Democratic Rep. Allison Hepler of Woolwich, who isn’t seeking reelection.

In November, Andresen will face Trent Vallella, also of West Bath, who ran unopposed for the Democratic nomination.

The recount was live streamed on the Maine Secretary of State’s YouTube page.
