Luther College is partnering with a Minnesota school district to provide its students with preferred admission guidelines and scholarship funds.

The Decorah private college announced in a news release it has launched a Preferred Admission Partnership with Rushford-Peterson Schools, a public school district in Rushford, Minn. According to the release, this partnership is similar to one the college entered into with Decorah Community School District just over a year ago.

“Strengthening connections with schools in our region is a priority for Luther College, and we are excited to add Rushford-Peterson Schools as our first partner from Minnesota,” said Luther College President Brad Chamberlain in the release. “Luther and Rushford-Peterson have long-standing connections, and we are excited for how this will deepen our relationship.”

Through the new partnership, students who maintain an unweighted grade-point average of 3.25, complete Algebra II by the end of their junior year and decide to opt in will receive preferred admission and become eligible for a $500 scholarship and others offered by the institution, the release stated.

Matthew Beatty, vice president for enrollment manager at Luther College, said in the release that the institution and school district “have a long-standing relationship,” and Rushford-Peterson students have seen success at Luther. The “clear and supportive pathway” from Rushford-Peterson to a Luther degree helps to build on that relationship.

“The Preferred Admission Partnership opens doors for Rushford-Peterson students to pursue an excellent academic opportunity close to home, recognizing their hard work and supporting their next steps,” said Rushford-Peterson Schools Superintendent Ben Bernard in the release.
