Des Moines University partners with India health sciences university
Health sciences universities in Iowa and India have paired up to provide opportunities for connection in education and research.
Des Moines University announced in a news release this week it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Malla Reddy Vishwavidyapeeth University in Hyderabad, India, to collaborate on research and student exchanges.
“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to advancing health sciences education, research and innovation on a global scale,” DMU President and CEO Angela Franklin said in the release. “When institutions come together around a shared purpose, they can accomplish far more than either could alone. We look forward to seeing what the future will bring through this impactful partnership with Malla Reddy Vishwavidyapeeth University.”
Beyond student exchange and visiting scholars initiatives, the release stated the partnership will also support research into women’s health. Faculty at each university will be able to work together on research projects, grant applications and joint publications as well as “clinical studies and capacity-building efforts focused on improving women’s health outcomes.”
DMU Chief Research Officer Pravin Mishra said in the release the partnership will bring together not just the people conducting research and other work, but their “complementary strengths and a shared commitment to discovery,” which university officials hope will lead to patients across the world seeing better treatments and care.
Bhadra Reddy, chairman of Malla Reddy Vishwavidyapeeth University, said in the release that this partnership is a promising step forward in the institution’s “vision of building globally connected, research-driven health care education.”
“By bringing together the strengths of both institutions, we aim to create meaningful opportunities for academic exchange, scientific collaboration and innovation that can make a lasting difference to health care outcomes,” Reddy said in the release. “We believe that international partnerships such as this will empower the next generation of health care professionals and researchers to address global health challenges with knowledge, compassion and a commitment to excellence.”
