ICEd Out, Episode Two: ‘Couldn’t get much worse’

 ICEd Out is a deep dive by The Pennsylvania Capital-Star’s Emily Previti into how Schuylkill County could be affected by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s plans to convert an old warehouse into a 7,500 person detention facility there.

Episode 2 picks up in Tremont Township and its rural surroundings. Those who’ve been most vocal about the potential ICE facility agree that the area cannot support the operation DHS has in mind. 

Some see the planned detention center as an opportunity, while others fear it will only exacerbate the community’s economic and environmental problems.
