Moore says NC employees group tactics needlessly worries retirees

RALEIGH, N.C. State Treasurer Richard Moore criticized leaders of a state employees group Friday for using its "baseless, bogus, frivolous lawsuit" as a veiled attempt to hurt his run for governor and help his rival.
The State Employees Association of North Carolina sued Moore two weeks ago, accusing him of failing to respond completely to its public records requests for information about the $78 billion in pension funds he manages.
Holding 900 pages of records Moore said his office gave the association, the treasurer said media coverage and full-page newspaper ads purchased by the group are needlessly scaring North Carolina's 800,000 public employees and retirees. (more…)
