Animal health company awarded 2026 Governor’s Bioscience Award
LINCOLN — A global animal health company was named the 2026 recipient of the Governor’s Bioscience Award, which recognizes individuals or companies that make significant contributions to Nebraska’s bioscience industry.
Phibro Animal Health Corp. sells products meant to help livestock producers, farmers and veterinarians responsibly care for their animals. The company has maintained a presence in Nebraska since 2009 after acquiring Baltzell Agri Products, and in 2016 it acquired Omaha-based livestock vaccine company MVP Laboratories, according to a press release from nonprofit trade association Bio Nebraska.
Nebraska Department of Agriculture Director Sherry Vinton, who presented the award to Phibro officials at a University of Nebraska event Tuesday, praised the company’s innovation, saying it has made life better for the state’s livestock raisers.
“As a lifelong livestock producer and rancher, I know how critical healthy animals and reliable tools are to the success of Nebraska’s farm and ranch families,” Vinton said. “Phibro Animal Health’s work strengthens the health and productivity of our livestock while advancing the food-safety standards that protect the people who depend on the high-quality protein we produce.”
