State Auditor Fitzpatrick cruises to nomination for second term in low-key primary

Missouri State Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick easily won renomination Tuesday as the Republican candidate for a second term, taking more than 80% of the vote against Jerry Wistrand of Oak Grove.

The primary was a mostly unseen campaign, with Fitzpatrick spending little and Wistrand having little to spend. Fitzpatrick’s campaign spent just $115,000 from the start of 2025 until a few weeks before the election, while Wistrand spent less than $5,000.

At 9:30 p.m., with 1,128 of 3,235 precincts reporting, Fitzpatrick had 86% of the Republican primary vote.

Fitzpatrick will face Democratic candidate Quentin Wilson of Kirkwood, a former state director of revenue. Wilson defeated Gregory Upchurch of St. Charles, taking about 70% of the primary vote.

Libertarian Dustin Coffell of Hazelwood was unopposed for his party’s nomination.
