Quarterly campaign finance reports confirm Lombardo will not be outspent in governor’s race
Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo remains significantly better funded than those trying to unseat him this election year.
According to his most recent quarterly campaign finance reports, filed Wednesday, the governor raised $2.2 million in contributions during the first three months of the year. An additional $1.5 million was raised by his political action committee, Nevada Way.
That brings the incumbent’s campaign war chest to around $13 million.
Lombardo faces several challengers in the Republican primary but none have found any momentum. The best funded of those candidates only has $2,000 of self funded cash on hand.
On the Democratic side, Attorney General Aaron Ford reported having around $2.7 million cash-on-hand between his campaign and his PAC, Forward Nevada.
Washoe County Commissioner Alexis Hill reported raising $170,566 — $126,000 of which is her own money.
Hill raised $ 11,947 in contributions of $100 or less. That’s more than the $10,180 Lombardo raised in small contributions. Ford showed the strongest ability to raise small amounts: His campaign raised $213,522 in contributions of $100 or less.
Hill in a statement released last week accused Ford of “co-opting the language of a grassroots campaign” while “accepting money from special interests and corporations” and prioritizing raising money from out of state.
Ford’s campaign, which has declined to debate Hill, has focused on Lombardo rather than the Democratic primary in June.
