Permanent Fund dividends will be distributed to Alaskans starting this week
The 2026 Permanent Fund dividend, worth $1,200 per recipient, will be direct-deposited into Alaskans’ bank accounts starting Oct. 1, according to a plan published by the Alaska Department of Revenue earlier this month.
This year’s dividend was set at $1,000 by the Alaska Legislature in the state budget signed by Gov. Mike Dunleavy. A $200 bonus was included because oil prices reached a threshold needed to trigger it.
Both the Legislature and the Department of Revenue labeled the bonus an energy relief payment.
Altogether, the state will spend more than $800 million on this year’s dividends.
The first round of dividends will go to people who applied for their dividend and requested direct deposit. A second round of payments is scheduled for Oct. 22 and includes people who filled out paper applications or requested physical checks for their dividend.
