Oklahoma Voice releases Nov. 3 voter guide, highlighting candidates and issues
Oklahoma Voice released its Nov. 3 general election voter guide Thursday to help voters learn more about the candidates and issues.
The guide is free and not behind a paywall.
In addition to highlighting each of the over three dozen candidates vying for Oklahoma’s statewide and federal offices, the guide also contains information about the Oklahomans competing in contested state House and Senate races. In all, 13 state Senate seats are up for grabs as are 55 House seats.
The guide also contains information about the two controversial legislatively-proposed state questions — 845 and 847 — that ask voters to amend the state’s Constitution.
State Question 847 seeks to change how much property taxes could increase each year. State Question 845 would change how the state’s judicial nominating process works.
In general elections, every registered voter, regardless of partisan affiliation, can vote.
With most statewide posts being held by leaders who cannot run again due to term limits, Oklahomans will decide their next governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, corporation commissioner, superintendent of public instruction, treasurer and commissioners of labor and insurance.
They will also decide who will fill the state’s open U.S. Senate seat. Markwayne Mullin resigned earlier this year to serve on President Donald Trump’s Cabinet and lead the Department of Homeland Security. All five of Oklahoma’s U.S. House seats are also on the ballot.
The most high-profile contest features Republican Mike Mazzei facing off against Democrat Cyndi Munson for governor. Three independent candidates are also vying for the post. Gov. Kevin Stitt cannot run again due to term limits.
The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 9. Absentee ballots must be requested no later than 15 days before the election.
Early voting runs from Oct. 28-31.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on election day.
