Every 10 years, officials across the states are tasked with drawing new congressional and state legislative district boundaries. In addition to the usual partisanship and court challenges, this year’s round of redistricting is also facing a tighter time crunch to produce new maps due to COVID-related delays. And throughout the U.S., the bitter debates over the results of the 2020 presidential election are getting replayed in redistricting battles.
