JD Vance is coming to Nebraska for a North Platte midterm rally
LINCOLN — The Republican National Committee has announced another midterm rally in Nebraska, this time with Vice President JD Vance.
The rally will be Thursday at the D&N Event Center in North Platte. The vice president is expected to speak around noon.
The RNC announced the North Platte rally late Saturday.
President Donald Trump visited Grand Island Oct. 5, as Nebraska is seeing a close Senate race between registered nonpartisan Dan Osborn and incumbent Republican Sen. Pete Ricketts.
Recently, the Senate race saw a rating change from Sabato’s Crystal Ball, a notable election analyst, to “leans Republican” from “likely Republican.”
Vance visited neighboring Iowa in September to campaign for Iowa Republicans. The political environment has worsened for Republicans as the midterm election approaches. Several races in the Cornhusker State are viewed as competitive.
In addition to the Senate race, the 2nd Congressional District has been competitive since the start of the cycle. In the last few weeks, the races for governor and the 1st Congressional District have drawn attention from election analysts as well.
The general election is Nov. 3. Early voting has already started.
