Donald Trump to campaign in Fort Myers next week
President Donald Trump will campaign in the Sunshine State next week, just as early voting is set to expand throughout Florida.
The president will campaign in Fort Myers on Friday, Oct. 23. The physical location of the event has not yet been announced.
Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. The program will begin at 12:30 p.m., with Trump scheduled to speak at 2 p.m.
Early voting begins in many counties in Florida starting Monday, Oct. 19. State law mandates that all counties must provide early voting by Saturday, Oct. 24.
The president himself said in a social media post last month that he would appear twice in Florida before the election.
“Two Rallies are already scheduled in Florida for Byron and, will be, as always, “SOLD OUT!” he wrote in a lengthy post that included his reaction to published reports that Florida GOP gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds had scrubbed any mention of him from his website.
“This was a Fake Story, with no sources, and the only justification for it is they want to stop my ever upward momentum,” Trump said.
The president’s endorsement of the Naples U.S. House member in early 2025 made him the early favorite in the Republican primary race for governor, which he won by 23 points over Lt. Gov. Jay Collins on Aug. 18.
In September, Vice President J.D. Vance made a campaign appearance in Lakeland in Central Florida. That event included appearances by Donalds, U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody, and several congressional candidates.
Meanwhile, the campaign for Democratic gubernatorial candidate David Jolly announced this week that former President Bill Clinton will appear with Jolly on Tuesday, Oct. 20, in Hollywood. It would be Clinton’s first public campaign event of the 2026 election cycle.
