The Montana Secretary of State’s office has mailed out absentee ballots for the 2026 election.

More than 575,000 ballots have been mailed to registered absentee voters, according to Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen.

Absentee ballots must be returned by 8 p.m., on Election Day, Nov. 3. Voters are encouraged to return their ballots promptly and are reminded to follow the instructions provided by their county election office.

Around three-quarters of Montanans vote by mail.

“I encourage Montanans to visit VoteMT.gov to view their sample ballot, track their absentee ballot, and prepare to make their voices heard on Nov.3,” said Jacobsen. “The Montana election team is honored to serve our voters.”

According to the secretary of state’s website, which tracks absentee ballots sent and received and updates every morning, 1,236 Montanans had already returned their ballots as of Friday.
