Trump is coming to Nebraska to campaign for Sen. Pete Ricketts

LINCOLN — President Donald Trump is coming to Grand Island next Monday, a Nebraska Republican Party official confirmed to the Examiner.
The stop in Grand Island comes as he begins his midterm campaign blitz to shore up red states as Election Day approaches. The president has planned trips to Oklahoma and Iowa, Florida, Texas and Alaska.
The visit to Nebraska State Fair’s Pinnacle Bank Expo Center will be focused on rallying Republicans for Nebraska Sen. Pete Ricketts in a heated race against Dan Osborn.
The last time Trump came to Nebraska was in 2022 for a campaign rally for Charles Herbster in his bid for governor.
Dave Plond, chairman of the Hall County Republican Party, told Central Nebraska Today that the last president to come to Grand Island was former President George W. Bush.
The national political environment for Republicans has worsened — Democrats are fully bullish about their chances of taking both the U.S. House and Senate.
Democratic Party Jane Kleeb posted a statement on social media about the likely stop, saying, “Trump would be better served doing his actual job instead of breaking every promise he made to Nebraskans. A coalition of voters across party lines is fed up with Trump’s chaos and ready to elect new leaders.”
The general election is Nov. 3.
