Here’s when you need to register to vote in the Nov. 3 election

Deadlines are approaching for Louisiana residents if they want to vote in the Nov. 3 election that includes races for Congress, Public Service Commission and judicial seats. 

They have until Oct. 5 to sign up to vote in person or through the mail, or they can register online through Secretary of State’s website until Oct. 13. 

Secretary of State Nancy Landry is holding dozens of voter registration drives this week with local registrars of voters where residents can sign up to vote in person. Every parish has at least two events, many of which will take place at local public schools and libraries. 

To vote in the Nov. 3 election, a person must be at least 18 years old on Election Day, a U.S. citizen, not incarcerated for a felony conviction in the past five years and a resident of the parish where they register to vote.

Residents also need to enter information from their current Louisiana driver’s license or Louisiana special ID card to register to vote online.

In-person voter registration is also available at Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles locations, Department of Children and Family Services offices, WIC offices, food stamp offices, Medicaid offices and military recruitment centers.
