Nearly 24,850 North Dakotans have already voted

Nearly 24,850 North Dakotans have already cast votes for the June 11 primary, the Secretary of State’s Office said.

Voters had returned 23,015 absentee ballots as of Wednesday, Secretary of State Michael Howe said.

In addition, 1,834 people had participated in early voting as of about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Early voting began Monday in Ward and Stutsman counties, Tuesday in Cass and Grand Forks counties and Wednesday in Burleigh, Morton and Stark counties.

A total of 40,428 absentee ballots have been requested. That means about 43% of absentee ballots have yet to be returned.

Absentee ballots can be dropped off at a county courthouse or returned by mail. The ballots must be postmarked by June 10 to count toward the election results. Absentee ballots will still count if received by counties within 13 days after the election.
