Democrats had hoped to make a long-shot effort to flip the Pennsylvania Senate, with Gov. Josh Shapiro endorsing just enough candidates to bring the Senate to an even split. But Republicans successfully fended off their challenges.

More than 20 hours after election day polls closed in Pennsylvania, the race for the 10th Congressional District is still too close to call. Incumbent Republican Scott Perry is being challenged by Democrat Janelle Stelson, a former local TV news anchor.

In a key U.S. House race still declared too close to call, Democratic U.S. Rep. Jared Golden gave a victory speech Wednesday, though his opponent said he is not yet ready to throw in the towel.

“Any viable path to a win for my opponent has closed, so I’m here to declare victory,” the congressman said.

New Hampshire Republicans seemed poised to expand their control of the state Senate as results continued to trickle in Wednesday afternoon.

Again and again Tuesday, a string of vulnerable New Hampshire House Democrats lost their seat to Republican challengers. State Republicans appear to have significantly expanded their once-slim lead in the House.

Voters in more than a dozen Oregon cities, including in the Portland area, have voted to ban the regulated sales and use of psilocybin mushrooms. The bans come a year after voters legalized licensed clinics and manufacturing facilities.

Colorado voters rejected a grassroots ballot initiative that would have banned the hunting and trapping of mountain lions, bobcats and lynx.
