University of Louisiana Monroe president to step down

University of Louisiana Monroe President Ron Berry announced Tuesday he will be stepping down to resume his role as a business professor at the school.
Berry has served as president of the regional university since 2020 and has worked at the university for 25 years. Berry said he will remain at his leadership post until the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors selects his successor.
“This last semester, I had the opportunity to teach a class of first-time freshmen and was reminded of why I entered higher education over 30 years ago,” Berry said in a news release. “Serving as president has been remarkable, but I can’t think of a more rewarding experience than working with students one-on-one to help them achieve their best life possible.”
