UNC Health infectious disease expert David Wohl on the respiratory virus season

We’re now several years, thankfully, past the COVID-19 pandemic, but as even a casual glance at daily news headlines reminds us, the challenge posed by infectious diseases is not going anywhere anytime soon. And with the arrival of fall weather and the holiday gatherings that will soon be right around the corner, it’s an excellent time to check in with one of the world’s pre-eminent infectious disease experts — Dr. David Wohl.

Dr. Wohl is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at UNC, and he’s spent over 20 years leading research into the prevention and treatment of HIV. In 2020, he helped lead the UNC clinical and research response to COVID-19. And this past week, Dr. Wohl was kind enough to make some time to chat with NC Newsline about how North Carolinians can best protect themselves and their families from any number of dangerous infectious diseases.
