Trump taps Eric Hamilton for Nebraska’s US District Court
LINCOLN — President Donald Trump announced via Truth Social that he will nominate Eric Hamilton to the U.S. District Court of Nebraska.
Trump’s post said Hamilton has done a “phenomenal job as the Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Federal Programs Branch, defending our Administration’s most important Policies in Court … The incredible people of Nebraska are lucky to have a fighter like Eric join the Federal Bench. Congratulations Eric! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
Hamilton previously worked as Nebraska solicitor general. During the first Trump administration, he worked as an associate counsel to the president in the Office of White House Counsel.
Nebraska Sens. Deb Fischer and Pete Ricketts both congratulated Hamilton on the president’s appointment and said they are proud to recommend him to the president.
Fischer said Hamilton has “built an impressive legal career defined by integrity, sound judgment and a steadfast commitment to the rule of law … He has served Nebraska with distinction, and I am confident he will continue that tradition of service on the federal bench.”
Ricketts said Hamilton served Nebraska with integrity as solicitor general.
“He has dedicated his career to public service and demonstrated a strong commitment to the rule of law,” Ricketts said. “I am confident he will bring those same principles to this next role.”
Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers also congratulated Hamilton.
The president has frequently tapped current and former state solicitors general to fill judicial vacancies, according to Bloomberg Law reporting.
