It took a few days for The Associated Press to make the call. And results announced on the night of the election rendered the result irrelevant to the electoral college count anyway, because Trump had already won. But on Friday night the AP called Trump the winner over Kamala Harris in Nevada.

The victory, albeit anticlimactic, was Trump’s first in Nevada in three attempts – he lost the state to Hillary Clinton in 2016 and lost it again to Joe Biden in 2020.

Trump’s win this year marked the first time a Republican won the presidential race in Nevada since George W. Bush defeated John Kerry in the state in 2004.

Nevada was the second-to-last of the so-called battleground states to be declared by the AP this year. As of Saturday morning, the winner in Arizona was still undetermined.
