Reward offered for source of abortion-related, threatening notes in Omaha

LINCOLN — A reward of up to $15,000 is being offered for information about the source of some abortion-related, threatening notes left six months ago at two sites in Omaha.
The Omaha office of the FBI said that on Dec. 3, notes were left at the St. John Paul II Newman Center on the University of Nebraska at Omaha campus and at the Christ Community Church near 108th Street and West Dodge Road threatening violence if an “abortion ban” went into effect.
The similarly worded letters both threaten a shooting with “AR14 rifles” if a ban was passed. It was signed: “Sincerely, Jane’s Revenge.”
The letters preceded the 2023 session of the Nebraska Legislature, in which lawmakers enacted a ban on abortion after 12 weeks — not a total ban, which was rejected during last year’s session.
The FBI said it was looking for a vehicle related to the notes, a 1998-2004 tan or silver Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck.

There was no explanation in the news release from the FBI about why a reward was being offered now, several months after the incident.
