Public can testify Monday at AI and data center committee

People share their opinions on data centers and artificial intelligence when a North Dakota legislative committee meets again Monday to address those topics.
The Artificial Intelligence and Data Center Committee meets at 9 a.m. Monday at the Capitol with an agenda that includes presentations by policy experts, the energy industry and state utility and pollution regulators. Public comment is scheduled for 11:15 a.m.
The committee, announced in June, has taken testimony on the pros and cons of artificial intelligence and the impact of data centers that are being built to generate AI. Multiple data center projects are proposed in North Dakota, with developers attracted by the state’s cool climate, access to power and abundance of land for development.
Previous meetings have explored AI regulation, AI use in education and risks to youth, and concerns about data centers.
