• Fairfax County police say a mass shooting may have been thwarted by a citizen alerting police to troubling social media posts by a man who was later arrested at a church with a loaded handgun.—News4

• Ford is “pausing” construction of a massive electric vehicle battery plant in Michigan amid political blowback over the involvement of a Chinese company and an ongoing labor dispute with the United Auto Workers.
