Hundreds of North Carolinians used the federal holiday to protest the actions of President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. “Make America Think Again” and “Impeach President Musk” were just some of the signs demonstrators carried as they marched for two hours around the state capitol Monday afternoon. Other protesters shared their disapproval of recent and abrupt cuts to USAID, the threatened dismantling of the US Department of Education, and efforts by the Trump administration to erase diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies from schools and state agencies. Similar 50501 rallies – representing “50 Protests, 50 States, 1 Day” – were held across the country.
