A new poll shows incumbent Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert leading Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District race by 7 percentage points, but challenger Adam Frisch says that he is well positioned to close that gap by the general election in November.

The poll shows 49% of voters selecting Boebert in November and 42% choosing Frisch, the Democratic contender.

It was conducted by Keating Research through telephone surveys with 550 likely voters between July 21 and 25 and has a margin of error of 4.2%.

The poll also shows Boebert trailing Frisch when it comes to unaffiliated voters in general, especially unaffiliated women. Frisch said those numbers present an opportunity.

“These numbers reflect what we’ve been hearing from voters all across the district: that they’re ready to stop Boebert’s circus and elect a representative that will work hard to address the needs of the district on issues like inflation, jobs, water, energy independence, and more,” Frisch said in a statement.

Researchers also found that 23% of voters reached view Frisch favorably and 12% view him unfavorably. The campaign said this indicates an opening for Frisch to connect with more voters who don’t yet know his name and haven’t formed an opinion on him yet. In comparison, many voters have already made up their mind on Boebert: 45% said they view her favorably and 44% said they view her unfavorably.

Researchers found that 57% of the unaffiliated voters they connected with think it is better to elect someone other than Boebert this November.

Polling from fall 2020 showed Democrat Diane Mitsch Bush beating Boebert by a few percentage points. Boebert, however, ended up victorious by a small margin. Recent redistricting puts the district at a 9 percentage point advantage for a Republican.
