Louisiana moves into readiness mode for Francine

Louisiana moves into readiness mode for Francine

Gov. Jeff Landry and state emergency preparedness officials will hold a news conference at 4:30 p.m. Monday to detail preparations for Tropical Storm Francine, which is expected to strengthen into a hurricane before it reaches the Louisiana coast Wednesday evening.

The National Hurricane Center has issued a hurricane watch for the Louisiana coast from Cameron eastward to Grand Isle. Hurricane conditions are expected within the watch area by Wednesday afternoon, with tropical storm conditions by Wednesday morning.


A storm surge watch is in effect east for the Texas Gulf Coast to Cameron, Louisiana, east of Grand Isle to the mouth of the Pearl River and in Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas.
