Louisiana early voting takes place from Tuesday to Oct. 27 (minus Sunday)
Louisiana’s early voting period opens Tuesday and closes a week later on Oct. 27 for the Nov. 3 election. Early voting locations will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day except Sunday.
Every parish has at least one early voting location, which can be found on the Secretary of State’s website. Louisiana residents don’t need to provide a reason for voting early in-person, as is required in some other states.
Voters will be asked to provide photo identification or sign a voter affidavit if they do not have a photo ID. Accepted forms of photo ID include a Louisiana’s driver’s license, a state ID card, a military ID with name and photo, or another form of photo ID with photo and signature.
For people voting by mail, the final day to request a ballot from their local registrar of voters is Oct. 30. Mail ballots must be received by Nov. 2, with the exception of those from military members and persons overseas.
The Nov. 3 ballot features races for the U.S. Senate, Louisiana’s six U.S. House seats, 10 state constitutional amendments and several local offices.
Any runoffs necessary after Nov. 3 will be decided in a Dec. 12 election, for which early voting takes place Nov. 28 through Dec. 5.
