More than two years ago, some New Jersey lawmakers introduced a bill intended to protect access to healthcare for transgender residents.
This community felt under attack, but couldn’t get the bill to move until earlier this year. Anne-Marie Caruso looks at their push to get the legislation advanced, approved, and signed into law over objections from conservative groups and amid a broader fight to limit transgender healthcare by the federal government.
This is the first in Anne’s “Who I Am Meant To Be” series that looks at the lives of transgender New Jerseyans. A new video will debut every Monday throughout the fall.
