Donald Trump, who lost Nevada in both 2016 and 2020, is scheduled to be in Las Vegas campaigning for Republican gubernatorial candidate Joe Lombardo and GOP U.S. Senate candidate Adam Laxalt. Both candidates were endorsed by Trump in their primary races.

The campaigns of their Democratic opponents, Gov. Steve Sisolak and Catherine Cortez Masto, were both quick to issue statements Tuesday highlighting Trump’s visit to tie their GOP challengers to Trump.

“Despite the similarities between two politicians with records of using their public offices for personal gain, no amount of Trump visits can repair Joe Lombardo’s record as a failed, corrupt sheriff. While Lombardo is busy campaigning with Trump, Nevada families are left to suffer the consequences of an understaffed police force and a staggering rise in crime,” said the statement from Sisolak’s campaign.

“As Trump’s campaign co-chair, Adam Laxalt led efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Nevada. Laxalt continues to spread Trump’s lies even though they’ve been proven false and he’s already planning lawsuits to overturn this coming election if it doesn’t go his way,” read the statement from Cortez Masto’s campaign. “Laxalt is desperate to gain power, even if he has to break the rules, and this rally is another reminder of why Nevadans rejected Laxalt, Trump, and their dangerous policies for three elections in a row.”

As of early Wednesday morning there were no reports of either Lombardo or Laxalt issuing statements about Trump’s visit, and neither Republican had noted the visit on their campaign Twitter or Facebook accounts.

Trump’s visit will reportedly be at the Treasure Island hotel Friday. As of Wednesday morning the visit to Las Vegas was not a listed event on Trump’s website.
