Idaho Gov. Brad Little will conduct his first Capital for a Day event in Idaho City on Friday, giving local residents there the chance to ask questions of the governor and many of the state’s top agency directors.

The free event is open to the public and runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at Ray Robinson Community Hall, 206. W. Commercial St.

Little, like his predecessor former Gov. Butch Otter, stages Capital for a Day events several times a year in different towns across the state. The idea is that Little symbolically designates the town selected for the event as the state’s ceremonial capital city for a day.

During the events, Little brings along state officials and agency directors from different sectors of government to explain their latest programs and answer questions from local residents.

It is an honor to bring my first Capital for a Day of 2024 to Idaho City,” Little said in a written statement. “This event will give the good people of Boise County a chance to discuss what’s on their minds when it comes to good government and how we can better serve them.”

Idaho State Controller Brandon Woolf, Idaho Department of Fish and Game Director Jim Fredericks, Idaho State Board of Education Executive Director Matt Freeman, Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation Director Susan Buxton, Idaho Department of Labor Director Janie Review and Idaho Department of Insurance/interim Idaho Department of Health and Welfare Director Dean Cameron are scheduled to attend the event.
