How to participate in the NM legislative session

New Mexicans can make their voices heard during the 2025 legislative session in a variety of ways, either in person, online or in writing.
Calendars for the Senate, the House of Representatives and the committees in each chamber are posted every day to the “What’s Happening” page.
The calendars show what bills and other business are up for discussion or votes. If you want to attend a hearing in person, the calendars also show the exact time and room where it will be held.
Members of the public can submit written public comments on bills via email, or sign up to speak before committee members virtually on video chat platform Zoom. Committee calendars contain the specific link to virtually attend a hearing.
Whenever the full Senate or House come together on the floor, or when committees meet to hold hearings, live webcasts can be found on the “Webcast” page.
To find recent recordings of previous hearings, click “New Recordings.” Older ones can be found under “Recordings” or by clicking on a particular day on the calendar on the left hand side
Specific pieces of legislation can be found on the “Bill Finder” page. A complete list of bills for the 2025 session can be found here.
Each bill has its own page showing its title, sponsors, and any different versions posted after its changed by a committee or a floor vote. Each bill can also receive independent analysis from legislative staff called a “Fiscal Impact Report,” often abbreviated FIR.
Last year the full comments from state agencies’ analysis of bills, which is often summarized in fiscal impact reports, also became available to the public.
Here is the official guide to the many abbreviations one might come across when navigating the Legislature.
Many organizations also converge on the Roundhouse during the session, and host special events. Find out more by visiting the Legislature’s social calendar.
