Harry Smith co-hosts podcast about Central College
Former TV newsman Harry Smith is using skills honed over decades of his journalism career to further his campaign of curiosity with a new Central College podcast.
Smith, who is teaching a class at the Pella campus, will lead the podcast with fellow executive-in-residence Clay Thompson.
The two alumni and board of trustees members have released the first episode of “Central Conversations,” a podcast focused on the importance of lifelong learning and keeping curious, according to a news release.
Smith and Thompson will interview Central College community members about their lives and careers, the release stated.
Smith, a former NBC News journalist, announced in the spring that he would return to his alma mater to teach a class on curiosity. The seminar, titled “Commencement: The Beginning,” uses discussion, guest speakers, experiences and thought experiments to broaden students’ horizons and show them the connections they can make in the world.
Thompson is also teaching a class this semester, called “Leading a Problem-Solving Organization,” as an executive-in-residence. Before retiring he worked as vice president of Caterpillar Financial Services.
Those interested in tuning in can find the podcast on the Central College website.
