Jeremy Jones, a West Virginia native with 20 years experience in the state Division of Forestry, has been appointed State Forester and director of the division, Gov. Jim Justice announced Monday.

Jones most recently served as Assistant State Forester-Fire for the Division of Forestry. Jones’ appointment fills the vacancy left with the retirement of former Director Tom Cover.

“I am honored to continue to serve the West Virginia Division of Forestry through this new role and thank Gov. Justice for this opportunity,” Jones said. “I am excited to lead the agency into the future.”
