Gov. Jeff Landry has signed an emergency declaration Tuesday for the severe storms that struck Louisiana last week. The declaration permits the use of state resources to assist with the recovery process in affected parishes.

The state will provide debris removal assistance and provide emergency protective measurers in Pointe Coupee, St. Landry and West Feliciana parishes and the city of Slidell. State shelter assistance is also available for affected Slidell residents.

Landry spent Monday touring Slidell and West Feliciana where tornadoes struck.
