Florida Supreme Court begins oral arguments Friday on abortion access, state’s privacy clause

The atmosphere in the state capital early this morning was serene, as people began walking into the Florida Supreme Court in Tallahassee.
Friday is the day of oral arguments that will begin at 9 a.m. on abortion access and the state’s privacy clause.
A group of young abortion rights advocates gathered at the Supreme Court building about 8:20 a.m. When they were able to come in, they were surprised that they had seats right away in the cavernous courtroom.
Attorneys, reporters, advocates and others began to come in at about 8:30 a.m.
Thus far, there were no protesters with signs outside. But protests and rallies are expected after the oral arguments and later in the day.
At issue is a 15-week abortion ban, which connects to a 6-week abortion ban and the privacy clause in Florida’s Constitution.
