Nine individuals and two organizations will be recognized by the Idaho State Historical Society for their commitment to preserving and promoting Idaho’s history and heritage, according to a press release.

The Esto Perpetua award, which gets its name from the state’s motto, has been given to more than 100 organizations and people throughout the state since its inception in 1999, the press release said. This year’s awardees were nominated by their peers, and the historical society’s board of trustees selects the recipients each year.

“Each recipient has demonstrated a truly exceptional level of achievement in their efforts to preserve a part of Idaho’s heritage,” said Janet Gallimore, executive director of the historical society, in the press release.

This year’s Esto Perpetua awardees include:

  • Bill Scudder, Kingston
  • Coeur d’Alene Press, Coeur D’Alene
  • Dulce Kersting-Lark, Moscow
  • Ryan Hatfield, Council
  • TAG Historical Research & Consulting, Boise
  • Don Aslett, Pocatello
  • Richard L. Hansen, Pocatello
  • Stephanie Palagi, Pocatello
  • Brandi Burns, Island Park
  • Museum of Idaho, Idaho Falls
  • Robert Hoff, Idaho Falls

The awardees will be celebrated during a ceremony that’s open to the public on June 6 at the Idaho State Museum. The doors open at 5 p.m., and the program begins at 5:30 p.m. Go to history.idaho.gov/esto to learn more about the event and to purchase tickets.
