An 11-year-old boy was fatally shot in the Township of Seneca in Green Lake County on Sunday during a hunting accident. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office, and emergency medical services responded to the fatal incident.

The boy had been deer hunting with a 41-year-old man and others. A DNR press release states that the man was unloading a firearm while in the back seat of a vehicle, and the weapon discharged. The boy was flown via Med Flight to a hospital, where he died.

The DNR and other authorities offered their condolences to the family. Deer hunting season is currently underway throughout Wisconsin.
