Deluzio fundraising continues to outpace GOP challenger Mercuri in Q2

U.S. Rep. Chris Deluzio (D-17th District) continues to lead the fundraising race over Republican challenger state Rep. Rob Mercuri.
Deluzio raised just under $675,000 from April 4 to the end of June, while spending about $295,000, according to new campaign finance reports.
Deluzio’s campaign has now raised $3.01 million in the election cycle to date and entered July with $1.87 million on hand. He raised slightly less in the current quarter than he did in Q1, when he brought in just under $760,000 from the beginning of January to April 3.
Mercuri, who was unopposed for the GOP nomination for the seat in western Pennsylvania, raised just over $410,000 from April 4 to the end of June, while spending $150,000.
Mercuri’s campaign has now raised $1.09 million since launching his candidacy and entered July with just over $800,000 on hand. In Q1, Mercuri raised about $330,000 from the beginning of January to April 3.
Both parties have their sights set on the battleground district in western Pennsylvania.
The National Republican Congressional Committee’s (NRCC) first list of seats to flip in 2024 included Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District, while the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) named Deluzio as one of the “vulnerable” incumbents it is seeking to protect this cycle. However, he’s outraised Mercuri in every quarter of the campaign.
National ratings outlets like the Cook Political Report, Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball, and Inside Elections all give Deluzio the edge in the race, labeling PA-17 as “leans Democratic.”
