The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol Division is offering two free upcoming boating safety courses for those who want to be prepared and earn their boater education safety card before warm weather arrives in 2023.

One-day courses are scheduled for  8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 19 and Dec. 17 at the Canyon County Marine Patrol Division office, 12996 Iowa Ave., in Nampa.

According to a press release from the Canyon County’s Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. Jason Roberts will teach boating safety and maintenance information and cover laws and regulations related to owning and operating a boat. Tips on becoming a more courteous boat operator are also included in the free course.

The courses are open to anybody regardless of experience. Everyone who completes either of the one-day courses will receive a boater education safety card, Canyon County officials said.

To register for the classes or request more information, send an email to Roberts at [email protected].
