A new poll commissioned by Adam Frisch’s campaign shows the Democratic candidate for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District trailing incumbent Rep. Lauren Boebert by just 2 percentage points.

The poll surveyed 500 likely voters in the district and showed 47% backing Boebert and 45% saying they would vote for former Aspen City Council member Frisch, who is running his long shot campaign on a promise of being an effective, non-inflammatory legislator.

The poll was conducted from Sept. 28 to Oct 2 and had a margin of error of 4.4 percentage points. It was conducted by Keating Research, which has a B/C rating from the statistics news site FiveThirty Eight.

“We are going to beat Lauren Boebert. I’ve believed this since I entered the race, but this poll showing that we are tied makes it even more clear that voters in CO-3 want Boebert’s circus to stop and are looking for a better choice to represent their families, their businesses, and their communities,” Frisch said in a statement.

A July poll from the same firm showed Frisch trailing Boebert by seven percentage points.

The recent poll shows a 60% favorable rating for Frisch from voters who consider themselves moderate, a demographic he is trying to court away from Boebert. Frisch has come out against the mainstream Democratic party values in his opposition to President Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan and support for oil and gas production. He describes himself as a conservative businessman.

Overall, the poll found a 49% unfavorable rating for Boebert, with higher unfavorable views among women and unaffiliated voters.

The 3rd Congressional District includes the Western Slope and southwest Colorado, swinging east to also include Pueblo, Otero and Las Animas counties. An analysis of recent election results from nonpartisan redistricting staff puts the district at a Republican advantage by 9 percentage points.

Voters will begin to receive their mail-in ballots in about two weeks.
