The Alabama Attorney General’s Office and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said Monday an explosive device was found near the attorney general’s office on Monday morning.

No one was injured by the device. Law enforcement has not described the size or scope of the explosive or if it was specifically targeted at the attorney general’s office.

ALEA said in a news release that it was notified on 8:19am Monday of a “suspicious” package located near the intersection of Washington Avenue and South Bainbridge Street.

The package was later identified as an explosive device that detonated early Saturday morning. The attorney general’s office said in a statement that it was “urging anyone with information  to contact ALEA.”
