Ada County voters can hear from county commission, highway district candidates in upcoming forums
Ada County voters can hear directly from candidates running for the board of county commissioners and the highway district in two forums later this month, according to a League of Women Voters of Idaho press release.
A candidate forum for those seeking a position on the Ada County Board of Commissioners will be held from 7:15-8:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at Boise’s Valley View Elementary, 3555 N. Milwaukee St. Candidates who have confirmed attendance include Michael Fitzgerald and Rod Beck for District 2 and Kelceymarie Warner for District 1.
That forum is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Idaho, the American Association of University Women and Babe Vote.
A candidate forum for those seeking a position for the Ada County Highway District will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Oct 27 at Boise’s South Junior High School, 3101 W. Cassia St. Candidates who have confirmed attendance include Sean Sundwall and Miranda Gold for District 3, as well as Marisa Keith, Dave Case and Chris Campbell for District 4.
The forum is sponsored by League of Women Voters of Idaho and the American Association of University Women.
“Sadly, the number of opportunities Idaho voters have to interact directly with candidates from across the political spectrum is shrinking,” said Jean Henscheid, League of Women Voters of Idaho president. “We applaud those who have stepped up to meet with each other and with the voting public to engage in this critical aspect of the democratic process.
The Federal Election Commission’s criteria for non-debates will be applied to both forums.
A moderator will ask each candidate questions written by audience members. The moderator may interject clarifying questions, and a timekeeper will ensure that each candidate receives equal opportunities to speak.
